UK-based sound recognition technology developer Audio Analytic has completed a $5.5m series A round that included Martet, the corporate venturing subsidiary of conglomerate Marshall of Cambridge.
The round was led by Cambridge Innovation Capital and included IQ Capital, Rockspring and Cambridge Angels. It boosted the company’s overall funding to $8m since it was founded in 2008.
Audio Analytic has created software that uses machine learning to help devices recognise specific sounds that can then be used to trigger automated actions.
Peter Cowley, investment director of Martlet, has joined Audio Analytic’s board in conjunction with the round. He told Global Corporate Venturing: “The company has become the dominant player in this market, and we have further invested alongside two Cambridge VCs and over 20 Cambridge Angels.”
