Automile clocks up $7.5m

US-based fleet management technology startup Automile has received $7.5m in series A funding from investors including Salesforce Ventures, which invests as cloud computing company Salesforce.com’s corporate venturing unit.

The round also featured venture capital firms Dawn Capital, Point Nine Capital and Atomico, software-as-a-service community SaaStr and Niklas Zennström, as well as fellow angel investors Justin Kan and Sam Nurmi, who took part in the $6.2m first close in July 2016.

Founded in Sweden where it maintains an office, Automile is the developer of a device that can plug into a vehicle to track and manage its performance through a range of mobile and web applications.

Dawn Capital and Point Nine had co-led a $5m round for Automile in May 2015. The funds will go to marketing, hiring in both the US and Sweden, and research and development.

Jens Nylander, Automile’s founder and CEO, said: “After raising our series A round this summer, we fielded a wide variety of interest from strategic partners and investors. We are fortunate Atomico Ventures and Salesforce Ventures, joined our series A, bringing the total investment to $7.5m in the round.”
