Aventura HQ brings home $13m

US-based software company Aventura HQ secured more than $13 of series A funding on Wednesday from backers including Siemens Venture Capital, the corporate venturing unit belonging to the Germany-based engineering conglomerate Siemens.

Jointly leading the round were venture capital firms HLM Venture Partners and Excel Venture Management. Aventura HQ joins a number of healthcare companies in Siemens’ portfolio, including MD Datacor, a US-based firm that sorts patients’ medical records into a searchable database.

Founded in 2007 and known as ThinIdentity until October 2010, Aventura HQ’s software platform works by combining clinical applications, computers and printers into a single system that clinicians can access on any terminal in a particular hospital.

Howard Diamond, chief executive of Aventura HQ, said: "I am thrilled that three of the world’s top medical venture firms have looked seriously under the hood and come to the same conclusion: our technology makes a major difference in the lives of the clinicians providing patient care. This is a significant vote of confidence in our technology, our people and our business."
