Aviatrix takes flight with $40m

US-based security and networking services provider Aviatrix received $40m in series C funding on Wednesday from investors including Liberty Global Ventures, mass media group Liberty Global’s corporate venturing unit.

CRV led the round, which also featured fellow venture capital firms Formation 8 and Ignition Partners. The company said it has now raised $76m since being founded in 2014.

Aviatrix offers cloud-based networking and security services such as advanced transit networking, firewall integration and network segmentation to enterprise customers.

The company has earmarked the series C funding for product development and the upgrading of its sales, marketing and customer support activities.

Steve Mullaney, Aviatrix’s chief executive, said: “Aviatrix gives enterprise IT an architecture to provide a common set of networking, security and operational services across one or more public clouds.

“We are seeing unprecedented demand from some of the largest organisations, and this latest funding will enable us to extend our demonstrable market leadership even more quickly.”

Formation 8 and Ignition Partners had provided $10m of series A funding for the company in 2015 before returning for a $15m series B led by CRV in January 2017. It also identified Liberty Global Ventures as an existing investor.
