Avnera takes funding to $62m

Avnera, a US-based maker of semiconductors, has raised $10m from 20 investors.

News provider Portland Business Journal first spotted the regulatory filing for Avnera, which raised a further $10m in January to take its total to $62m since 2004.

Its investment consortium includes the corporate venturing units of semiconductor and electronics manufacturers and retailers Best Buy, Panasonic, Intel, Polycom, and Onkyo.

Onkyo joined the syndicate in January’s series D round as a new investor as part of a partnership to jointly develop products.

Munenori Ohtsuki, chief operating officer at Onkyo, at the time said: "We look forward to collaborating closely with Avnera to assist us in delivering leading audio and video products."

Avnera’s venture capital investors includes Altien Ventures, a US VC co-founded in 2007 by former Intel Capital head John Miner, Bessemer Venture Partners, DAG Ventures, Jafco Ventures and Redpoint Ventures.
