Insurance group Axa’s corporate venturing arm, Axa Strategic Ventures, renamed itself Axa Venture Partners on Tuesday.
Axa Venture Partners manages $450m of assets and has participated in 32 deals since it launched in 2016. Its priority areas include enterprise software and digital health, as well as insurance, financial and consumer technologies.
The rebranding follows the launch of Axa’s $175m fund-of-funds initiative in November 2017, and the unit has so far backed three unspecified venture capital funds. It is also intensifying its emphasis on Asia, having opened a new office in Hong Kong.
Axa’s recent investments have largely concentrated on companies working with artificial intelligence, like field marketing app developer ForceManager, and cybersecurity software providers such as SecurityScorecard.
