Banks manage new Meniga funding

UK-based digital banking technology provider Meniga completed a €10m ($11.8m) funding round yesterday that included financial services firms UniCredit, Swedbank, Groupe BPCE and Íslandsbanki.

The corporates – all of which are also among Meniga’s customers – were joined by Velocity Capital and Frumtak Ventures, which co-led the round, as well as Industrifonden and the UK’s Future Fund.

Meniga’s software enables banks to add functions such as data and personal finance management and enhanced marketing and engagement to their offering. It will spend the cash on research and development, with a particular focus on green banking.

The company has now raised more than $55m altogether, having most recently closed a $9.4m round in May 2020 led by Groupe BPCE and backed by UniCredit, financial services firm Grupo Crédito Agrícola, Velocity Capital, Industrifonden and Frumtak Ventures.

The company’s earlier investors include Íslandsbanki, UniCredit, Swedbank, banking software provider Crealogix, Industrifonden, Frumtak Ventures, Velocity Capital and Kjolfesta.
