Christopher Bartlett has joined US-based telecommunications firm Verizon’s corporate venturing arm, Verizon Ventures, as senior vice-president for corporate development and head of ventures.
Bartlett will take over John Doherty’s former responsibilities, which include joint ventures, strategic investment activity, acquisitions and divestitures, following Doherty’s departure from Verizon at the end of June this year. Doherty was unavailable to comment on his next move.
Verizon hired Bartlett from investment banking firm Morgan Stanley, where he had been a managing director leading North American media and communications M&A for the firm for 14 years. Bartlett was based in New York but will now relocate to Basking Ridge, New Jersey.
Bartlett will report to Matt Ellis, chief financial officer of Verizon, who said: “Chris brings a wealth of experience to Verizon. We are pleased to have him join our team as we position the business for future growth.”
