BCG Digital Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of US-based management consultancy Boston Consulting Group (BCG), launched an internal incubator called DV Hatch on Friday.
DV Hatch will focus on bringing internally developed intellectual property to market. Startups will receive funding as well as incubation and scaling support from both BCG and unnamed corporates, and receive access to a BCG Digital Ventures’ innovation centre network in the US, UK, Germany and Australia.
DV Hatch has been launched initially in San Francisco’s Bay Area, but the firm expects to launch it in several additional locations in the US and internationally. The incubator will focus on sectors such as retail, consumer, financial, transportation and healthcare.
The initiative will be led by Henry Vogel, a partner at BCG Digital since August 2014, who will act as managing director. He is also co-founder and former chief executive of social recommendation search engine Raved, which was acquired by BCG Digital Ventures last year.
Vogel said: “BCG Digital Ventures can unlock incredibly valuable assets from within corporate organisations and help our partners create truly disruptive new businesses that solve key consumer frictions, deepen relationships and generate new revenue streams, profit pools and competitive advantage.
“In doing so, we are also looking forward to creating a new winning model for corporate venture capital.”
