Shenzhen Berxel Technology, a China-based optoelectronic technology producer backed by conglomerate Legend Holdings, has secured approximately RMB100m ($14.1m) in series A-plus financing, DealStreetAsia reported on Monday.
Private equity fund Vision Knight Capital led the round, which also featured Aplus, a venture capital vehicle for investment manager Hongtai Capital Holdings.
Berxel has developed optoelectronic technology for use in the semiconductor industry, including a vertical-cavity surface-emitting semiconductor laser which converts electric charges into light.
The technology helps systems that rely on 3D sensors to operate more efficiently and enables devices such as virtual and augmented reality systems to run on lower power.
The round followed an undisclosed amount of series A funding in 2019 from Vision Knight Capital, Legend Holdings and its Legend Star unit, Qingsong Fund, SummitView Capital, TusStar and Leaguer Angel, according to DealStreetAsia.
