BigFoot Retail Solutions, the India-based operator of e-commerce services platform KartRocket, has closed a series B round featuring media group Bertelsmann at $8m, according to the Economic Times.
Bertelsmann’s local corporate venturing division Bertelsmann India Investments led a $6m first tranche in January 2016 that also included e-commerce company Beenext, Nirvana Digital India Fund, Nirvana Digital Investment Holding and 500 Startups.
The additinal capital was provided by an undisclosed investor reported to be based in Japan.
Founded in 2012, BigFoot operates a range of services including KartRocket, a platform that enables small to medium-sized enterprises to set up websites and integrate payment, logistics and marketing tools.
The company will use the series B funding to grow and market Kraftly, a marketplace for small-scale entrepreneurs to create branded shops where they can sell consumer goods such as clothing, homeware and electronics.
BigFoot previously secured $2m in a 2014 series A round led by Nirvana Venture Advisors and backed by Beenext, then known as Beenos, and 500 Startups.
