BioWink solves $20m series B clue

Germany-based women’s health app developer BioWink raised $20m in series B funding today from a consortium led by Nokia Growth Partners, the investment arm of technology company Nokia, according to TechCrunch.

Union Square Ventures, Mosaic Ventures, Giving Wings and assorted angel investors also supplied funds.

Established in 2013, BioWink has created a smartphone app dubbed Clue that tracks and predicts a woman’s menstrual cycle, fertility, mood, body temperature and sexual activity. The money will go towards further development of the app.

BioWink previously raised $7m in a series A round co-led by Union Square and Mosaic in October 2015. Groupe Arnault, the holding firm for luxury goods producer LVMH, and pharmaceutical firm Dr Kade, participated in a $2m seed round in March 2015 alongside private investors.

The company earlier obtained a total of $1.1m across two seed round in February and August 2014 from Luminary Labs Ventures and angel investors.

Ida Tin, founder of BioWink, said: “I feel as strongly as ever that Clue’s mission is to keep female health and its advancement at the top of the global agenda. I am thrilled to partner with a prestigious circle of investors who share our vision.

“And when you consider that more than half of the world’s population is female, you realise how enormous the market potential and opportunity for femtech companies is to truly make an impact.”
