Payfone, a US-based mobile payment service provider, has raised $11m in its series B round, including from corporate venturing fund BlackBerry Partners.
BlackBerry Partners Fund, which is backed by smartphone maker Research In Motion, and venture capital firm Opus Capital are new investors in Payfone and joined repeat VC backer RRE Ventures in the B round. The company previously raised $1.6m, according to news provider PEHub.com.
RRE Ventures incubated Payfone in March 2008 and is Payfone’s largest shareholder. Kevin Talbot, co-managing partner at BlackBerry Partners Fund, will join Payfone’s board.
