BlackBerry Partners Fund, a corporate venturing vehicle backed by phone maker Research In Motion, has teamed up with venture capital firm iNovia Capital and the Business Development Bank of Canada to start a Vancouver-based accelerator program called GrowLab.
Entrepreneurs can gain up to C$25,000 in seed financing, four months of mentorship, free office space and the opportunity to pitch investors at the end of the program for follow-on funding. www.growlab.ca
The five team members include Boris Wertz, founder of W Media Ventures angel fund and a venture partner with Germany-based Acton Capital that span out of publisher Hubert Burda Media.
