Brian Walsh snaps from Konica to McKinsey

Brian Walsh, the short-lived head of Japan-based Konica Minolta’s innovation strategy and new venture development efforts for North America, has joined management consultants McKinsey’s New Ventures Fast Growth Tech (FGT) practice.

As a general manager for corporate venture capital services, Walsh said: “At McKinsey, I am helping to drive a new service line around Corporate Venture Capital (CVC) best practices.”

Walsh added: “From my experiences as a venture capitalist, venture-backed CEO [and] founder and new ventures lead for a $9bn Japanese company, I have deployed risk capital on behalf of corporate limited partners, raised capital from a corporate investor and invested capital as a corporate venture capitalist.”

At Konica Minolta’s Business Innovation Center (BIC), Walsh had led the company’s largest CVC deal in history, a $3m investment into robotics startup Knightscope that included a “significant strategic partnership”.
