Paul Bricault (pictured), founder of the corporate venturing-backed Mailroom Fund, joined venture capital (VC) firm Greycroft Partners at the end of last year.
Greycroft revealed the move this week and news provider Fortune said Bricault’s move to be a venture partner in Greycroft’s Los Angeles office came with the closing of Mailroom to new deals.
Led by Richard Wolpert, Mailroom was sponsored in March 2008 by VC firms Accel Partners and Venrock, advertiser William Morris Agency (WMA) and phone operator AT&T.
Fortune said Mailroom did three deals, Sometrics, Cocodot and AdventureLink, which the fund will continue to back.
However, Fortune said after the merger of WMA with talent manager Endeavor Agency in 2009 to form William Morris Endeavor and personal illness meant there were no other deals and Bricault left. (Click for the Fortune story with more details; William Morris Endeavor was unavailable.)
Bricault’s hire at Greycroft was part of a wider promotion and hiring announcement, including the recruitment of Kirill Sheynkman, chief executive of three enterprise software start-ups, such as Elastra, and Alan Gould, who founded advertising group IAG.
Separately, Drew Lipsher has left Greycroft after nearly five years as a general partner in order to lead corporate development at broadcaster Clear Channel Communications.
Lipsher said by email: "Not sure how much investing we will do at this stage, but it is always a possibility."
