BrightFarms, a US-based urban agriculture company, has raised $4.9m series B funding from investors including Emil Capital Partners, the US-based investment unit for Germany-based retail group Tengelmann, venture capital firm NGEN Partners and Ted Caplow, the founder of BrightFarms, who all previously in BrightFarms series A funding of $4.3m in December 2011.
BrightFarms will use the funding to continue its strategy to finance, design, build and operate greenhouse farms at or near supermarkets.
