Business Insider reports $25m in funding

US-based online news provider Business Insider raised $25m yesterday in a funding round led by media company Axel Springer.

Jeff Bezos, chief executive of e-commerce company Amazon, as well as venture capital firms Institutional Venture Partners, RRE Ventures and a range of undisclosed existing investors also backed the round.

Business Insider focuses on business and technology news, and has raised appproximately $57.5m since 2009.

Past investors in the company include merchant bank Allen & Company, Kohlberg Ventures, Pilot Group, Marc Andreessen, Gordon Crovitz, Ken Lerer and Allen Morgan.

Business Insider has launched seven international editions so far, expanding to Australia, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, China and the UK. It reaches 35 million visitors a month in the US.
