ByteDance expands dealmaking to Japan

ByteDance, the China-based owner of video-sharing application TikTok, will relocate some of its corporate venturing to Japan ahead of investing in local technology developers.

The company said it would send members of its corporate venture capital team to work in its Tokyo office, which opened in 2017, according to local news provider Kyodo News.

“We would like to actively commit to the Japanese market,” a company official said.
