C5 Capital identifies 4iQ for $18m investment

4IQ, a US-based cybersecurity intelligence technology developer backed by telecommunications firm Telefónica, has collected $18m in funding from venture capital firm C5 Capital.

Founded in 2016, 4iQ has built a cybersecurity platform which aims to protect users from identity theft, alerting individuals and organisations when their personal information is exposed in a cyberattack.

The company’s technology scans documents in 26 different languages across the web, including deep web sites such as paste bins and hacker forums, to index exposed identities.

C5 Capital’s investment will involve it taking a seat on 4iQ’s board of directors. It brings the company’s total funding to more than $32m to date, and comes after a $14m series A round in late 2016 that included corporate venturing vehicle Telefónica Ventures.

Venture capital firm Trident Capital Cybersecurity led the 2016 round, which also featured Adara Ventures, a VC firm that had previously supplied an undisclosed amount of seed funding for 4iQ.
