Capital One sticks $24m in Securonix

Financial services firm Capital One Ventures agreed yesterday to make a $24m investment in US-based cloud cybersecurity software provider Securonix through corporate venture capital unit Capital One Ventures.

Securonix is the creator of a security information and event management platform which utilises advanced analytics technology to collect large volumes of data in real time in order to detect advanced cybersecurity threats.

Capital One Ventures partner Jay Emmanuel is taking a board observer at Securonix in connection with the transaction, which is supporting a strategic partnership agreement between the companies. He said: “We are highly selective and strategic in choosing portfolio companies that define the future of enterprises in the cloud.

“As a cloud-native security company, we understand the massive market opportunity Securonix has as organisations are increasingly exposed to the challenges of securing systems and digital services across complex cloud and distributed environments.”

The latest round comes in the wake of $12m in funding in February 2020 according to a securities filing. Eight Roads, a VC subsidiary of investment and financial services group Fidelity, had joined growth equity firm Volition Capital in Securonix’s $26m series A round in 2017.
