Greer Carper has departed from aerospace company Boeing to join one of its portfolio companies, drone detection technology developer Fortem Technologies.
In his new role as chief financial officer and vice-president of corporate development, Carper will be working on Fortem’s fundraising, M&A and strategic partnership efforts.
He was a founding member of Boeing Applied Innovation, a subsidiary of Boeing responsible for connecting business units with portfolio companies of the aircraft maker’s corporate venture capital arm, AEI HorizonX Ventures.
Carper served as an investment principal at Boeing Applied Innovation for a year, before which he had held a similar role at the parent company since 2017.
Greer had led Boeing’s investment in Fortem Technologies five years ago, in addition to other companies such as autonomous flying vehicle technology developer Near Earth Autonomy, drone maintenance company Robotic Skies and drone fleet management provider Aloft.
“As a deal lead for Boeing back in 2017, Fortem Technologies was one of my first investments. Since then, I’ve seen the team triple in size, deploy at major sporting events and conflict zones and form compelling strategic partnerships,” said Carper in a statement.
“Drone threats have grown exponentially throughout the span of my career and I am thrilled to join a team that has developed a trusted and proven solution to help keep warfighters, security teams and civilians safe everywhere.”
