Jonathan Carrier (pictured), founder and head of UK-based carmaker Jaguar Land Rover’s entrepreneur initiative InMotion, joined RocketSpace’s new London tech campus today to lead its corporate liaison program.
He said by email: “Sebastian Peck is the MD [managing director] at InMotion and effectively replaced me.”
Carrier said: “Starting Monday I am very proud to be joining RocketSpace. This great San Francisco-based business recently opened the doors to its new tech campus in London, which will house 1,500 high-tech, high-growth companies.
“RocketSpace has incredible ambition to build a global network of technology campuses and services designed to help tech startups scale and corporates innovate. I am the first hire in Europe, and first outside of San Francisco, for its corporate innovation services team.
“I will help deliver programs in Europe by tapping into its ecosystem of startups from around the world, and building the business in Europe. I am also delighted to be staying close to mobility and smart transportation, delivering their mobility tech accelerator program with some incredible businesses, including BP, Magna, Allstate, Volkswagen, Avis Budget Group and IBM.
“I will also be working in new and exciting verticals including energy, food, logistics and others to help corporates innovate and startups scale faster and better together.”
At the launch of the London campus last month, Duncan Logan, CEO of RocketSpace, said the secret to successful companies was their velocity, rather than whether they had the best technology.
The location of the campus, at financial services firm RBS’s former cash holding centre in London, was meant to be a “space where ideas can flourish rather than be crushed by corporations,” he added.
Logan had earlier hired British consul general in San Francisco, Priya Guha, to be ecosystem general manager at RocketSpace’s UK tech campus.
