Casper spirits away $13m for series A

US-based mattress manufacturer Casper raised $13.1m yesterday in a series A round that included participation from Norwest Venture Partners, the venture capital firm backed by bank Wells Fargo.

Venture firm New Enterprise Associates led the round, which also featured SV Angel, A-Grade Investments, Slow Ventures, Consigliere Brand Capital, Silas Capital, Cendana Capital, Lerer Hippeau Ventures, Crosslink Capital, Vaizra Investments, Queensbridge Ventures and Correlation Ventures.

The company, which officially launched in April, recently released its first product, the Casper memory and latex foam mattress. The cash will be used to design future products as Casper looks to expand its range of bedding.

The funding follows a $1.9m seed round raised in March this year, led by Lerer, which also included Norwest, Crosslink, Vaizra and Correlation.
