UK-based online catering services marketplace CaterWings has raised €6m ($6.8m) in a round featuring e-commerce holding company Rocket Internet and Tengelmann Ventures, a subsidiary of retail chain Tengelmann.
Launched in September 2015, CaterWings runs an online marketplace served by a network of catering services. The round, which also included venture capital firm Holtzbrinck Ventures, will help the startup strengthen its online service and customer service capabilities.
Sebastian Kloss, co-founder of CaterWings, said: “We are very grateful to see the trust into our business model by (such) renowned investors as Holtzbrinck, Tengelmann and Rocket.
The catering industry is experiencing a digital revolution. While only a short period of time ago, it was a pure pen and paper business, CaterWings offers now a convenient online solution. We believe that the times of tasteless sandwich platter are definitely over.”
