Advanced Animal Diagnostics (AAD), a US-based company developing technology to spot diseases in cattle, has raised $15m in a series C round backed by genomic testing company Laboratory Corporation of America.
The round was co-led by venture capital firm Cultivian Sandbox and US state-backed Kansas Bioscience Authority, and also included funding from venture capital firm Middleland Capital and existing investors Novartis Venture Funds and Intersouth Partners.
AAD previously received $17.3m in a series B round that closed in April 2013. The funding was supplied by a consortium including drugs company Novartis, which invested through its corporate venturing unit Novartis Venture Partners, and Intersouth.
Formed in 2001, AAD was incubated at Becton Dickinson’s BD Technologies BioVenture Center in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. It has raised $37.4m in total debt and equity, including $3.5m from a debt round in October this year.
