CBRE backs Fifth Wall fund

CBRE, a US-based property management company, has committed an undisclosed amount to venture capital firm Fifth Wall’s Climate Technology Fund.

As the world’s largest manager of commercial buildings, CBRE said its investment in the fund would provide insight into and access to early-stage technologies for clients.

Sandeep Davé, CBRE’s chief digital and technology officer, said: “Climate technology development has dramatically increased as a result of a changing regulatory environment, ambitious corporate sustainability targets and other catalysts.”

CBRE has been an investor in Fifth Wall investment programs since 2016 and increasingly active as a direct investor through deals, such as immersive media group Matterport and taking a 35% stake in co-working space provider Industrious.

In September, Fifth Wall said it had raised over $140m for its Climate Tech Fund, from investors including housing provider Invitation Homes and property manager Ivanhoé Cambridge.
