Chang leaves SoftBank for Eight Roads

Joe Chang has left SoftBank China Venture Capital (SCVC), a subsidiary of telecommunications firm SoftBank, to join Eight Roads Ventures, a corporate venturing subsidiary of financial services group Fidelity International.

Chang took a partner position at SCVC, Japan-based SoftBank’s local corporate venturing unit, in September 2014, after four years as managing director of networking equipment producer Cisco’s corporate development team.

During Chang’s tenure at SCVC, the fund’s investments included gold trading platform G-Banker and Xuexibao, an online service that provides help with homework.

Chang will be a partner in Eight Roads’ Chinese office, in Shanghai, and will focus on enterprise technology, consumer IT, financial technology and services deals.

Daniel Auerbach, senior managing partner at Eight Roads Ventures, said: “We are delighted to welcome Joe to the China Ventures team.

“He is an experienced operator and investor with great instincts and the ability to spot new and emerging trends. Joe will continue to build on Eight Roads’ 15-year track record of venture investing in China.”
