He moved to join the Asian special situations group in 2008, which invests on behalf of Goldman Sachs in the region, becoming its managing director in 2016.

SoftBank Investment Advisers was launched in 2017 and runs two funds called the Vision Funds. The funds target technology startups and can invest up to $1bn in a single deal. They represent the largest technology-focused VC funds in the world.

SoftBank Vision Fund II’s Asian portfolio companies include bKash, a Bangladeshi fintech platform for users to access financial services, and Emeritus, a Singaporean edtech company that provides business and professional education courses.
