Chip Path finds A team

Chip Path Design Systems, a US-based company designing integrated circuits, has brought together some of the most experienced computer investors by raising $3m in its series A round from a consortium including semiconductor services company Xilinx.

Alongside Xilinx in backing Chip Path a month after its launch were venture capital firms Scientific Ventures and LanzaTech Ventures.

George Janac, executive chairman of Chip Path, said: "With this round of funding we can greatly compress our delivery timeline and gained a key partner in our quest for ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) and FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) interoperability."

Janac sold one of his previous businesses, Hier Design, to Xilinx in 2002 and his founded, led or invested in eight other chip businesses.

Lucio Lanza, founder of LanzaTech, and Mark Templeton, president of Scientific, are both on Chip Path’s boards having previously been together on chip company Artisan Components, which was acquired by ARM for $1bn in 2004.
