US-based networking technology provider Cisco has contributed to an $80m fund raised by Singapore-based venture capital firm Monk’s Hill Ventures, Deal Street Asia has reported.
Cisco was joined by Singaporean sovereign wealth fund Temasek. Monk’s Hill’s other limited partners for its first fund include YJ Capital, the corporate venturing arm of internet company Yahoo Japan, which committed capital last month.
Monk’s Hill focuses on Southeast Asian technology companies, as well as Silicon Valley startups aiming to expand in the region. It planned to raise $80m for Monk’s Hill Ventures Fund I but may extend the fund to $100m if there is sufficient interest.
The firm’s portfolio so far include online property portal ZipMatch, last-mile delivery service Ninja Logistics and Compare88, the owner of financial product comparison platform CekAj.
