Citrix Systems, a US-listed virtual computing company, has made its first investment from its Silicon Valley-based seed fund launched in December.
Citrix Startup Accelerator has invested an undisclosed sum in Primadesk, a service to help users search, manage and backup their personal cloud data.
Srinivasa Venkataraman, chief executive and founder of Primadesk, said: "The global presence Citrix has, as well as its entrepreneur-friendly environment, large customer base and seasoned go-to-market strategies, will be prime assets for us as we join the Citrix Startup Accelerator program."
Martin Duursma, vice-president of Citrix Labs and head of its Accelerator, which will invest up to $400,000 in up to 12 portfolio companies per year, said: "By providing access to our deep technical resources, business mentoring and global network, we believe we can greatly increase the chances that Primadesk and our future portfolio companies will succeed."
