Armor5, a US-based enterprise security company for workers bringing their own mobile devices to work (BYOD), has disclosed it raised $2m from a consortium including network company Citrix’s corporate venturing unit.
Alongside the Citrix Startup Accelerator were venture capital firms Nexus Venture Partners and Trinity Ventures and angel investors Jayaram Bhat, former chief executive of Zenprise, and serial entrepreneur Mohana Velagapudi.
Michael Harries, senior director and chief technologist at the Accelerator, by email said its standard investment amount was $250,000.
He added on his blog: “Late last year we made an investment in a cool new startup by the name of Armor5, just now out of stealth.
“They happened to have offices just up the road from our Accelerator (on Lawrence expressway), so it was very easy for the whole team to relocate and they’ve been quietly operating out of the Citrix Startup Accelerator offices since late last year.”
And in a statement, Harries said: “Armor5 has tremendous potential to complement Citrix technologies in addressing BYOD challenges.
“The service is ideal for CIOs who need an immediate solution to enterprise data security and compliance challenges with the growth of BYOD.”
