US-based semiconductor company ClariPhy Communications, which is backed by investors including Finland-based phone infrastructure company Nokia Siemens Networks and Nasdaq-listed equipment maker Oclaro, has raised an additional $4.5m.
Nariman Yousefi, former head of Broadcom Corporation, has also joined the company as chief executive and president, replacing the company’s co-founder, Paul Voois, in the role.
ClariPhy provides integrated circuits to help networks transport information.
The company has now raised $18.5m for its series D round, raising fresh funds from an unnamed strategic partner, after it held a first close on the round at $14m in June, which was led by Nokia Siemens Network.
In May last year, strategic investors backed ClariPhy Communications’ $24m of third round funding.
Oclaro led the series C round for ClariPhy, and said it invested $7.5m.
The remainder of the C round came from undisclosed strategic investors and its existing venture capital backers Norwest Venture Partners, Allegis Capital, Onset Ventures and Pacific General Partners.
ClariPhy closed its series A round in February 2006 at $13m and held an undisclosed series B round in 2008.
