Class clasps $105m in series B round

US-based online educational materials provider Class Technologies secured $105m on Wednesday in a series B round led by internet and telecommunications group SoftBank’s Vision Fund 2.

The round included GSV Ventures, Emergence Capital, Maven Partners, Owl Ventures, Insight Partners, Swan & Legend Venture Partners, Revolution’s Rise of the Rest Fund, Learn Capital, Reach Capital, Slow Ventures, Sound Ventures, Chimera Investment, Daher Capital and private investors Tom Brady, Guy Oseary and Bill Tai.

Class is working on teaching and learning tools that are designed for use on video teleconferencing platform Zoom, helping teachers virtually take attendance, assign homework and administer tests.

The company received approximately $12.3m from Salesforce Ventures, the investment arm of enterprise software provider Salesforce, Sound Ventures, Brady and Oseary, in April this year.

Insight Partners and Owl Ventures co-led a $30.8m series A round for Class two months earlier, investing alongside all its existing backers.

Class had previously collected $16m in a September 2020 seed round featuring Revolution’s Rise of the Rest Seed Fund, GSV Ventures, Swan & Legend Venture Partners and multiple angel investors.
