Clearedin catches MS&AD as an investor

US-based cybersecurity technology startup Clearedin has completed a $4.75m funding round featuring MS&AD Ventures, the strategic investment vehicle for insurance group MS&AD.

The round was led by Bonfire Ventures and also featured angel investors including Dave Kellogg, Ajay Mishra, Warren Adelman and undisclosed executives from enterprise software producer Salesforce and internet technology provider Google.

Clearedin’s Trust Graph software utilises machine learning to defend businesses from phishing attacks that attempt to lure employees into opening harmful attachments over email. It plans to now increase headcount and expand the number of platforms with which Trust Graph integrates.

Deepak Kumar, Clearedin’s, co-founder and chief executive, said: “Email is simply the first vector for weaponising social engineering attacks via phishing.

“We created Clearedin to address phishing by attacking the root cause – how do I know you – and then using that knowledge across all channels including Office 365, (Google’s) G Suite and Slack.”
