Clever receives top marks from Google

Google Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of search engine provider Google, has participated in a $3m seed funding round for US-based Clever, an educational software provider.

The round also saw Clever funded by micro-venture capital firm SV Angel, venture capital firm Bessemer Venture Partners, and angel investors Mike Maples, Jeff Clavier, Mitch Kapor, Ashton Kutcher, John Katzman (founder of the Princeton Review), Aayush Phumbhra (founder of Chegg), Matt MacInnis (chief executive of Inkling), and Deborah Quazzo (chief executive of GSV Advisors).

Founded in March and launched in June, Clever’s platform is designed to enable schools to integrate their central student information systems with online learning apps. The platform has been adopted by over 2,000 schools.
