Scott Coleman, formerly general manager of technology company Microsoft’s accelerator network Startup Growth Partners, has joined venture capital firm Ignition Partners.
Coleman will serve as a business development partner at the firm’s recently opened Los Altos office. He will be responsible for identifying technical and go-to-market opportunities and driving strategic partnerships.
Coleman joined Microsoft in March 2015 and was in charge of its seven accelerators and fostered partnerships with VC firms across the world. The accelerator network has celebrated more than 500 graduate startups to date that have secured approximately $2bn in total funding.
Prior to joining Microsoft, Coleman was a senior vice-president of financial services firm Bank of America and led the Technology Innovation Portfolio team from 2011 to March 2015. He worked at investment bank Morgan Stanley from 2000 to 2011.
Coleman said: “I am thrilled to join the great team at Ignition, and have long admired its model of creating powerful partnerships to ignite great companies, and to help outstanding entrepreneurs build the world’s greatest technology companies.”
