Vitrue, a US-based social media management software company, has raised $17m in its series C round from a consortium including cable group Comcast’s corporate venturing unit.
Comcast Interactive was joined by venture capital firms Scale Venture Partners, Advent Venture Partners, General Catalyst Partners and Dace Ventures.
The money will help pay for seven domestic and three internationaloffices and hiring 150 people.
As one of the hires, Mike Murphy, former vice-president of global sales at social network Facebook, has joined as special adviser to Vitrue’s chief executive, Reggie Bradford.
Vitrue closed its $10m series B round in October 2007 from Dace, General Catalyst and media companies Comcast and Turner Broadcasting.
