Comcast Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of mass media group Comcast, has appointed Dinesh Moorjani as managing director based in Santa Monica.
Formed by the merger of Comcast Interactive Capital and Peacock Equity Fund through the acquisition of NBCUniversal by Comcast in 2013, Comcast Ventures currently operates through offices in San Francisco, Palo Alto, Philadelphia and New York.
Moorjani joined the unit from private equity firm Warburg Pincus, where he served as an executive-in-residence, and where he will continue to be used as an advisor. He was also founder and CEO of Hatch Labs, the incubator set up by internet and media company IAC that gave birth to dating app Tinder.
Amy Banse, Comcast Ventures’ managing director and head of funds, said: “We are building a team of smart, proven investors with knowledge and success across a variety of sectors.
“Dinesh brings unique experience that bridges later-stage private equity transactions with an accomplished track record of angel investments and will be an excellent addition to our team.”
Moorjani will oversee investments in data and business intelligence, marketplaces and social networks as part of his new role.
