Maker’s Row, a US-based startup which connects designers and businesses with US manufacturers, has closed a $1m seed round of funding, co-led by Comcast Ventures, corporate venturing arm of entertainment and cable communications company Comcast Corporation, and venture capital firm Index Ventures, with the participation of angel investors including Joanne Wilson and Alexis Ohanian.
Matthew Burnett, chief executive officer of Maker’s Row, said: “Maker’s Row provides the means to which a good idea can become a great product here in the United States.”
Tanya Menendez, chief operating officer of Maker’s Row, said: “We are excited to lead the rebirth of American manufacturing, making American manufacturing accessible will have a direct impact on job creation and the overall economy.”
Maker’s Row was launched in November 2012 and currently focuses on clothing and accessories production.
