Comcast reaches for SundaySky

SundaySky, a US-based marketing and advertising technology company which creates personalised videos – “SmartVideos” – to acquire and engage customers, has raised $20 million in a series C investment round led by Comcast Ventures, the venture capital affiliate of cable television company Comcast Corporation. Liberty Global Ventures, the corporate venturing division of cable company Liberty Global, and Israel-based investment fund manager Vintage Investment Partners also participated in the round, along with existing investors, Israel-based venture capital fund Carmel Ventures, and US-based venture capital firms Globespan Capital Partners and Norwest Venture Partners.

SundaySky will use the investment to accelerate growth and scale, and to strengthen new product innovation.

Andrew Cleland, managing director of Comcast Ventures, who joins SundaySky’s board of directors, said: “Comcast Ventures is a believer in disruptive digital marketing innovation, particularly as chief marketing officers (CMOs) boost technology investments and seek to develop more direct, personalized relationships with customers.  SundaySky sits at the intersection of these trends, combining rich creative experiences with big data, and we’ll support a world-class team building a clear category leader.”

Shmulik Weller, chief executive officer of SundaySky, said: “This milestone highlights SundaySky’s success in establishing and leading the smart video category and a new paradigm for how businesses engage with their customers.  All of our investors share a commitment to our mission to capture the vast market opportunity for personalized video and innovate ahead of the competition.”

SundaySky is headquartered in New York City with offices in Tel Aviv and London.
