Comet, a US-based machine learning technology developer backed by e-commerce and cloud computing group Amazon, secured $13m yesterday in a series A round led by venture capital firm Scale Venture Partners.
The round also featured existing investors including VC firms and existing investors Trilogy Equity Partners and Two Sigma Ventures.
Founded in 2017, Comet has built a machine learning operations (MLOps) platform that allows data scientists to build machine learning models more quickly, while optimising them and tracking the results more effectively.
The company said it has now raised $19.3m altogether, having received $4.5m in seed capital from Trilogy Equity Partners, Two Sigma Ventures and Founder’s Co-op in April 2020.
Trilogy Equity Partners, Two Sigma Ventures, Founders Co-Op, Fathom Capital, Techstars Ventures and unnamed angel investors had supplied $2.3m for Comet in 2018, the year after it emerged from Amazon’s Alexa Accelerator with funding from the corporate’s Alexa Fund.
