Compath.me, a Japan-based operator of a family photo service that is backed by a range corporates, has been acquired by internet company Mixi, according to The Bridge.
Launched in 2011 as a graduate of startup incubator Open Network Lab, Compath.me originally produced a photo-sharing app but pivoted to providing a family photo service called Kiddy in 2013.
Hiromichi Ando, founder and chief executive of Compath.me, and several other executive team members will join Mixi. Kiddy will be shut down in late April and its users will be migrated to Mixi’s family photo app Mitene.
Compath.me had raised an undisclosed amount in seed capital from internet companies Beenos and Digital Garage, through its investment arm DG Incubation that also operates Open Network Lab. Architype, a custom computer programming services provider, also contributed.
Internet company United then supplied $492,000 in funding in 2014.
