US-based social network app Connect has secured $10.3m in a series A round that included Kinzon Capital, a venture capital firm whose sole limited partner is China-based conglomerate Fosun International.
The round also featured Launch Fund, Bull City Venture Partners and angel investors Marc Benioff, who is the CEO of cloud computing platform Salesforce.com, Brad Feld, Cyan Banister and Scott Banister.
Connect previously raised $2.4m in seed capital in 2012 and $400,000 in angel funding in April 2014 from co-founder Ryan Allis. The company also secured $2.8m in debt financing in June 2014 from a range of angel investors.
Connect aggregates data from a user’s phonebook and email contacts as well as social networks Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter and Foursquare so that users can see and talk to all their connections through a single application. The app also notifies the user when one of their connections is nearby.
The series A funding wiill be used to expand the company’s team, support product development and establish partnerships.
