Conversa Health completes $12m series B

Northwell Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of healthcare provider Northwell Health, co-led a $12m series B round for US-based virtual care app developer Conversa Health yesterday with venture capital firm Builders VC.

UH Ventures, the strategic investment arm of hospital operator University Hospitals, also participated, as did P5 Health Ventures and Nassau Street Ventures. The round boosted the company’s overall funding to more than $26m since it was founded in 2014, it said.

Conversa has created a telemedicine app that enables healthcare centres to remotely engage patients through virtual consultations informed by medical data and electronic health records. Builders VC partner Mark Goldstein has joined its board of directors in connection with the round.

Northwell Ventures also led Conversa’s $8m series A round in 2017, investing with healthcare provision database Healthgrades, VC firm Epic Ventures and undisclosed existing backers.

The company raised an undisclosed amount in a 2016 round featuring Social Venture Fund, following $2.5m in seed capital from unnamed investors the previous year.
