EmiSense Technologies, a US-based maker of sensors, has raised $3m in its second round of funding from corporate investor CoorsTek.
Patrick Thompson, chief executive of EmiSense, said: "CoorsTek is a strong strategic partner."
Doug Coors, executive vice-president of CoorsTek, the world’s largest technical ceramics manufacturer, said: "EmiSense hit several key development milestones in 2010."
EmiSense is developing sensors for oxygen electrostatic particulate matter (soot) and simplified oxides of nitrogen. Thompson said: "We have made good progress across all three product lines, but we’re especially pleased with the rapid development of our soot-sensing platform."
EmiSense started in November 2009 after the merger of assets by Innovate! Technology and CoorsTek.
