South Korea-based online restaurant listings platform MangoPlate has closed a $6.1m series B round backed by wireless technology manufacturer Qualcomm, telecommunications firm SoftBank and internet company Yahoo Japan.
The corporates invested in MangoPlate through their respective corporate venturing subsidiaries, Qualcomm Ventures, SoftBank Ventures Korea and YJ Capital. MangoPlate previously received an undisclosed amount of series A funding from Softbank Ventures Korea in October 2014.
Founded in 2013, MangoPlate runs a restaurant discovery platform that offers users a customised restaurant recommendation service enhanced by crowdsourced reviews and images.
Dae-woong Kim, co-CEO of MangoPlate, said: “Our team is really excited about having Qualcomm Ventures, YJ Capital, and SoftBank Ventures Korea as our investors for this investment. “Beyond capital, these investors will help us execute on our vision to dominate the Korean market and beyond.”
