US-based virtual reality video app developer VRse has rebranded to Within and closed a series A round featuring entertainment producer 21st Century Fox, according to a blog post by CEO Chris Milk.
Venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz led the round. Milk did not disclose its size but VentureBeat reported it was sized at approximately $12.6m and included talent agency WME, media companies Live Nation, Vice Media, Annapurna Pictures, Legendary Pictures and Tribeca Enterprises, as well as Raine Ventures and Freelands Ventures.
Founded in 2014, Within distributes VR video content through an app and also creates its own content in partnership with sister company and VR video producer Vrse.works.
The company previously raised an undisclosed amount of seed funding from WME, Legendary, Live Nation, Vice, Andreessen Horowitz and angel investor Steve Chen in April 2015.
