An intimate group of multinational corporations gathered in London last week to take part in the first Global Corporate Venturing Academy, run by consultant Andrew Gaule.
The number of corporate venturing units globally has doubled to more than 1100 over the last five years. The influx of new entrants into corporate venturing means there are large numbers of executives attempting to come up to speed quickly with how to work in an existing unit or to set the strategy.
Discussions from the meeting held at the offices of law firm Baker Botts are kept confidential to ensure attendees can air their plans openly, but a video round-up of the proceedings can be seen here.
The Academy is running its next session in Shanghai on 25 and 26 November, with speakers including Intel Capital managing director Richard Hsu. You can register here.
Attendees at the London event clearly had strong enthusiasm to make their mark in the venture capital sector, and given the positive mood of all those involved among both expert attendees and tutors, the latest entrants to corporate venturing are set to be a great cohort to be a part of.
